How to add metadata

Data vs. Metadata — what is the difference?

Data catalogue contains the actual files – datasets, documents, layers, or tables you upload. Metadata catalogue describes those files – who created them, what they contain, where they come from, and how they can be used.

In practice, you usually do not need to create metadata separately. When you upload your data to the Data Lake, basic metadata are created automatically. You can later extend or refine them in the Metadata Catalogue if needed.
